Sannat is a small rustic village on the island’s southern coast with just over 2,000 residents. It is home to the spectacular Ta' Ċenċcliffs that run along the same coastline and is popular for its ancient cart ruts, temples, dolmens and rich flora and fauna.
For many years, the village has been well known for lacemaking, so much so that in 1951 Queen Elizabeth II visited a house named ‘The Lace House’, which can be found in a small square called ‘Pjazza Tax-Xelina’.
The closest bay is Mgarr Ix-Xini, which lies in a picturesque gorge. Sannat’s charm has captured the heart of celebrities such as Billy Connolly, who has peacefully lived there, on and off, for years. Brad Pitt has even been known to hide out and relax in Rosina’s bar, located in one of Sannat’s small squares.
