San Lawrenz is one of the island’s smaller villages with less than a thousand residents, making it the second least populated village on the island. Its name is derived from Lawrence of Rome, the patron saint for the village.
Built on a plain surrounded by three hills, Għammar, Gelmus and Ta' Dbieġi, San Lawrenz still observes tradition and rural life.
The bay of Dwejra, which is within the limits of San Lawrenz, is known for its strange geological faults, such as Fungus Rock and the Azure Window, a natural arch which has, sadly, now collapsed.
