Cosy House of Character
A cosy three-bedroom, four-bathroom house of character in the core of the village of Siggiewi.
This house of character in Siggiewi has been lived in and loved by a small family for the past several years. The children have grown up playing in the courtyard and spreading their toys out on the terrace, and the parents have greatly appreciated that the home has enough bathrooms that no one needs to share. It is for homes like these that "house of character" is a true description, as the house truly is filled with both character and years of joy.
The small internal courtyard brings natural light into most of the rooms in the house and provides for a play area for kids, or an oasis for adults as the sun sets. Courtyards are one of the things we love most about Maltese architecture. A plate of pasta eaten with family, outside but with the walls of your home all around you... it brings in the feeling of deep, homely contentment like nothing else can.
The kitchen has a rustic look and is well equipped with a range cooker as well as ample storage. A window just above the butler's sink leads onto the internal yard, which brings light into the kitchen. A pantry is connected to the kitchen as well as the guest toilet.
The kitchen/dining/living area includes these traditional wooden beams. The home additionally has the traditional "xorok".
We just can't get enough of this staircase. It runs the whole of the house the house, from the ground floor all the way up to the top, third floor.
On the third floor, the house has another double bedroom with en-suite and walk-in wardrobe. On the same floor are the washroom and a terrace for a BBQ on a summer night. The roof is private and it can be accessed from the terrace.
This home is a Goldilocks house - not too small, not too large, but just the right size. We love its little design flourishes - the spiral at the base of the staircase, the stained glass above the front door, this little blue window on the terrace - and we know this home will be just as loved by its new owners as its current ones.

Siġġiewi lies in fertile agricultural land, the parish covering a central and western strip of Malta from the picturesque coastline of Dingli Cliffs to Buskett Gardens and Verdala Palace near Rabat. The centre of Siġġiewi is dominated by the imposing baroque parish church of St. Nicholas and houses with traditional Maltese balconies.
The outlying countryside is ideal for walking tours. Places to look out for around Siġġiewi are: the Inquisitor's summer palace in the Girgenti valley, which now serves as the Prime Minister's official summer residence; the 'Clapham Junction' cart ruts which date from Neolithic times; the Laferla Cross; and the picturesque fishing hamlet of Għar Lapsi - a favourite summer bathing place and beauty spot.
