The bustling village of Nadur is one of the larger villages on the island and is the most populated. It can be found on the northeast side of the island, between the villages of Qala and Xaghra, on one of the island’s three hills. From here you can see most of Gozo, Malta and the rising sun in the mornings, explaining the rising sun on the emblem of Nadur.
Nadur’s church is dedicated to the saints Peter and Paul. Their feast, Mnarja, is celebrated on the 29th of June and is one of the most popular on the island. Nadur has picturesque valleys and very fertile lands, producing 70 percent of the island’s citrus fruits. The closest beaches are Ramla, Dahlet Qorrot and San Blas.
Nadur is scattered with watch towers, hence the word Nadur means “look out” in Arabic. In modern days Nadur is better known for its unique Carnival activities which pulls tourists from across the world.
