ABOUT XGHAJRA

Xghajra is a small village located on the eastern coast of Malta between Valletta and Marsascala and on the outskirts of Zabbar. It’s a nice seaside area which is turning into a summer resort zone for many locals living nearby. Its promenade stretches along the coast, making it perfect for seaside walks.

Xghajra is also home to a Coastal Battery, which replaces a watchtower built by Grand Master Wignacourt that was demolished in 1888. Both structures carried the name Tal-Grazzja which stood for ‘Our Lady of Grace’.  Today, part of the battery is being used as a town hall while the rest of it is being restored so that eventually it will be open to the public.

As picturesque as it may be, Xghajra might not get the number of tourists it deserves being off the beaten track. This makes it perfect for those who want to get away from all the hustle and bustle of the rest of the island and enjoy this coastal area.
